1 month until World championships

With only one month until World championships, training has been made easier to get through as now an end point is slightly visible.  The kms of training is not going down yet but only around 2 more weeks of high kms plus high inensity training.  One week ago my squad and I arrived home from a two week intense training camp in Cairns Australia.  Training was three sessions a day and some of the hardest sets I have ever experienced.  The weather was sunny and hot, so training in an outdoor pool made it slightly more bearable but it was very draining.  Felt significantly fitter by the end of camp so everything is looking up for World Championships.
In two and a half weeks we will be heading to Hong Kong for a 10 day training camp and moving onto Shanghai for the World Championships.  My main race, the 4x200m Freestyle will be on the 28th of July and the relay girls and I are all getting very excited for it.  After World Champs I will then be flying into Wellington for the New Zealand Short Course Champs at the beginning of August.
Feels good to be counting down the days, and am getting very excited to race at the biggest meet of my life.

2011 update

It's now a month and half into the new year and quite a lot has been happening with my swimming since 2011 began. I have been some very high intensity training as part of our build up to world champs trials which will be held in the first week of march in Auckland. We had a 14 day training camp at the end of January which was very shattering to my body. We had 3x a day training sessions and completed 85-90km each week!

We have only just returned from competing at new south wales state champs over the weekened. It was very hard to race as well as I would have liked but was still feeling very tired from rotorua camp. It was very good to get up and start racing again. I managed to find a few things I can really work on to improve over the next 7 weeks.

So we are now back into 5 more weeks of high intensity training to prepare to swim fast enough at trials to make the shanghai world championship team.
